What is AVID?
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, and it is a program geared toward preparation for entrance in to a four year college or university. Throughout the high school years, students in AVID will learn note-taking, organization, and study skills to give the student the necessary tools for success in high school and college. AVID has solid statistics to back the program: over 90% of students from all racial backgrounds have completed the four-year college entry requirements with no remediation classes required. AVID's
mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college
readiness and success in a global society.
